No swine flu cases reported in Illinois

The Illinois Department of Public Health said there are no known cases of swine flu in the state.

Department spokeswoman Melaney Arnold said state officials have been in contact with local health departments and hospitals to monitor the situation.

Dr. Damon Arnold is the director of the Illinois Department of Public Health. In a weekend statement, he said because many people travel through Illinois it’s important to take precautions against swine flu here.

He said if people recently traveled to areas affected by the disease and now have flu symptoms, they should be tested to see whether swine flu is present.
