ROCKFORD — The Winnebago County Health Department is taking appointments for people in priority groups at increased risk for flu and flu complications to receive the H1N1 injected vaccine.
Appointments may be made by calling 815-720-4006 or 815-720-4007. Appointments will be taken from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and will be made as long as vaccine is available.
The priority groups eligible for the shots are children 6 months through 35 months of age, pregnant women, and household contacts and caregivers of children younger than 6 months.
Those younger than 10 years of age should receive a second dose after 28 days.
The Health Department also will start school-vaccination clinics this week, and schools will be served for as long as vaccine is available.
When more vaccine is received, vaccination clinics will continue to be scheduled to meet the remaining needs of these and other priority groups.
The Health Department is offering the H1N1 vaccinations free of charge. For information on H1N1, go to wchd.org.
