CHICAGO — The Illinois Podiatric Medical Association will conduct its third annual call-in from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday to help provide advice and referrals to residents with questions about foot care and to draw attention to the role it plays in diabetes management.
“During last year’s event, one out of every four callers had diabetes or was prediabetic” said IPMA President Joseph Borreggine, of Charleston. The IPMA volunteers fielded more than 150 questions last year during the call-in event and this year IPMA members believe the demand will rise because many residents have been negatively impacted by the recession.
Illinois residents have three ways to get advice from an IPMA podiatrist:
* They can call the IPMA foot care hot line at 888-869-3338;
* If they are on Twitter, they can send a tweet to @IPMA;
* They can visit the IPMA Facebook Fan Page and post a question there.
An IPMA member podiatrist will respond promptly to any questions from Illinois residents.
