ROCKFORD — The Winnebago County Health Department has confirmed a site for a previously announced H1N1 flu clinic on Rockford’s west side.
The clinic will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 9, at Auburn High School, 5110 Auburn St.
Two other H1N1 clinics are scheduled for the first week of January. They are set for 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Heartland Church, 1280 S. Alpine Road, and 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, in the Hilander Village Shopping Center, 4912 Hononegah Road, Roscoe.
All forms of the vaccine, including a limited supply of the nasal spray, will be available at these sites. Appointments for the clinics may be made 24 hours a day by calling 800-649-2381.
Children age 9 or younger who received their first dose before Dec. 8 may receive their second dose.
The Health Department offers these tips for residents attending their clinics:
* Prepare to expose the uppermost part of your arm, near the shoulder.
* H1N1 vaccinations given by the Health Department are free so Medicare cards are not required.
* When bringing a child for their second dose bring their vaccination card with the previous dosage information, if possible.
* People with allergies to eggs should not receive the vaccine.
* Allow at least 15 minutes for your visit.
