SPRINGFIELD — Illinois health officials are reminding adults that they too may be due for some shots.
Many children are heading to their doctor’s office or local health care clinic for back-to-school immunizations.

It’s also a good time for adults to check their health records to see if they’ve received all the recommended vaccinations

Illinois Department of Public Health Director Damon Arnold said many adults are unaware that they should get a tetanus and diphtheria booster shot every 10 years.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month. The state health department has posted an adult immunization schedule on its website.
