Restrictions on visitors age 12 and younger have been removed at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Rockford Health System, SwedishAmerican Health System and Van Matre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital because of the decreasing numbers of H1N1 cases in the Rock River Valley.

The hospitals, in cooperation with the Winnebago County Health Department, adopted the visitor age restrictions in mid-October to help limit the spread of H1N1 flu.

Health Department spokeswoman Sue Fuller said in a news release Tuesday that the department and the health systems will continue to monitor H1N1 and seasonal flu activity.
