SwedishAmerican Health System will celebrate Veterans Day with a special program scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday in the lobby of the Heart Hospital, located at Charles and 10th streets.
Carl Cole will perform patriotic music and lead the audience in singing. A short history of and a poem about Veterans Day will be read.
Dr. John Myers, a cardiothoracic surgeon at SwedishAmerican, will offer a few words. Myers is a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force, worked as chief consultant to the Air Force surgeon general in cardiovascular surgery from 1991 to 1997 and was a member of the Deployed Advance Surgical Team in Desert Storm.
SwedishAmerican employs dozens of veterans who also will be recognized at the program.
