ROCKFORD — SwedishAmerican Center for Women, 1340 Charles St., is offering a new breast cancer support group beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19.
The group is called Women of Courage and will be geared toward younger, working mothers, but will be open to women of all ages with meetings scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in the Center for Women’s second-floor conference room. The meeting for Jan. 19 will address how to talk to your children about your cancer.
At each meeting, a guest speaker will discuss common issues women deal with, such as body image, raising children, careers, sexuality and the balancing act of life. A question-and-answer period will follow. There will be an opportunity to bond with other women and learn coping skills that will help them through the cancer journey.
