RRSTAR.COM STAFF REPORTS

Organizers of the area’s American Cancer Society “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk” will have a kickoff breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at Giovanni’s, 610 N. Bell School Road.

The purpose of the breakfast is to hear the latest on breast-cancer news from members of the medical community and encourage people to get involved in the event.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a four-mile walk Oct. 25 at Martin Park in Loves Park and is expected to raise more than $200,000 for research, education, advocacy and services for breast cancer survivors and their families in Illinois and nationwide.

Participants are encouraged to collect donations and pledges for the event, which serves as a huge support group for Illinois breast-cancer survivors.

For information, call 815-229-1287 or visit cancer.org/stridesonline.
